Languages
Most of our work is into or out of Portuguese, but through the ABC Translation network we work with native translators in dozens of languages. If yours is not listed, just ask.
Portuguese
The official language of São Tomé and Príncipe. We translate into and out of Santomean, European and Brazilian Portuguese, and review documents for use in any Portuguese-speaking country.
English
The most requested pair for visas, universities and international organisations. We produce certified translations in the format required by the UK, the US, Canada, Ghana or Nigeria.
French
Essential for France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Canada and Central African neighbours such as Gabon, Cameroon and Congo. We coordinate sworn translations where the destination requires them.
Spanish
Needed for Spain, Latin America and neighbouring Equatorial Guinea. We translate personal, academic and commercial documents and coordinate sworn translations for Spain.
German
For study, work and family reunification in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. We work with translators sworn in those countries.
Italian
For residence, marriage and study in Italy, and for Italian cooperation projects in São Tomé and Príncipe.
Dutch
For the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium), including sworn translations coordinated with local partners.
Chinese
For scholarships, construction contracts and trade with China. We translate academic and commercial documents in Simplified Chinese.
Arabic
For study, work and business with Morocco, the Gulf and the Middle East, with right-to-left typesetting.
Russian
Many Santomean professionals studied in Russian-speaking countries. We translate Russian diplomas, transcripts and certificates for recognition in São Tomé and abroad.
Forro (Santomean Creole)
The most widely spoken creole on São Tomé island. We mainly provide interpreting and translation of interviews, surveys and outreach materials for community projects.
Lung'Ie (Principense)
The creole language of Príncipe island. We provide interpreters for field work, research and conservation projects in the Autonomous Region of Príncipe.
